NATG Reward Fund

Posted on November 24th, 2011 4:07am

On November 12, 2011 The North American Truckers Guild closed the Alex Fraser Reward Fund bank account which was set up just over a year ago and handed a bank draft in the amount of $10,144.59 to Mr. Fraser As you will remember, Alex Fraser was beaten and left for dead after stopping to help a “supposed” stranded motorist - half way between Blue River and Valemount BC in September 2010. To date RCMP have been unable to arrest suspects due to lack of evidence though they do believe they know who committed this heinous act; the file remains open.

At this point, Mr. Fraser is unable to return to work and still suffers from the affects of the assault. Adding insult to injury, for the past year Mr. Fraser has essentially been held under house arrest Monday through Friday by Worksafe BC, they insist that if they are paying him, he must remain at home other than making visits to doctors or therapy. Alex makes the best of a sad situation by working on woodcraft projects in his small workshop.

Mr. Fraser has expressed his sincere gratitude to all those who have helped him get through this ordeal and is humbled by the generosity shown from complete strangers. The money donated will be used to pay off some residual debt and reduce his monthly obligations to a more manageable level.

The NATG would like to remind all travelers that the culprits which committed this act are still on the loose and that you should exercise caution especially when alone in remote areas. We would also like thank the many corporate and private contributors which made this fund possible, we could not have done this without your amazing support and we are sincerely grateful to you. People in the transportation industry and our industry partners continue to show Pride Unity Strength and Honour. Bless you!
